Isabella Radcliffe is an Italian language coach working at the major UK opera companies and music colleges, coaching singers in interpretation, pronunciation and style of the Italian repertoire. Isabella works with students and professional singers, preparing repertoire for concerts, opera productions or auditions, concentrating on the difficulties of singing in Italian, in particular recitatives. As well as one-to-one coaching for singers, she also offers help with translation of libretti for directors, conductors and repetiteurs.
Winner of the 2010 Leonard Ingrams Award
“… hats off to the language coach Isabella Radcliffe, who made sure that the Italian libretto always sounded Italian, and unlike many an opera production these days, that the audience heard every single word. For that alone, British Youth Opera should be congratulated - let's hope these young singers take that skill onward into future roles with the main companies. What a nice change that would be!”
